Janell J. Lewis Ford is a veteran media professional with a heart for community service and giving back through volunteering and mentoring. She has had a passion for writing since elementary school and has turned that talent into a 20+ year career in journalism, media, communications and public affairs. She's now also a children's book author. Janell’s life has been a testament to versatility. As an “Army Brat” and Army Spouse, she’s navigated diverse roles. Her journey includes not just being a three-time Emmy nominee, but also teaching journalism at the elementary, junior high school and collegiate levels. Janell has worked for the military as a civilian and has worked for all major television news affiliates across the country, including ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox. A U.S. Congressman has appointed Janell to serve on various committees and she has been appointed by a mayor to serve on a diversity commission. Additionally, Janell has volunteered and held several positions on both national and local boards, working with numerous nonprofits, including “Forever Baltimore!” And JanellJay Media LLC. Janell published her first book in April 2025, a children's book named, "Hi, Hey, Hello! The Power of Hello and Magic in a Smile." Janell is married to an active-duty U.S. Army veteran and has three children, including two bonus daughters and Gregory Ford, Jr. Her parents also served in the military and are retired U.S. Army servicemembers.
